WhatsApp: Many smartphones will not be supported in 2023 – In the new year, WhatsApp will increase the requirements for mobile phones and smartphones on which the application runs. This means that older devices will no longer be supported – you will no longer be able to use and install WhatsApp on a smartphone.
WhatsApp releases updates frequently, and sometimes older phones just can’t keep up. For example, the widely used messaging app stopped working on iPhones running iOS 10 and iOS 11 on October 24th. Also, only two iPhones will lose access to the messaging app this time around, along with a number of older Android smartphones.
Of course, we’re talking about smartphones from a few years ago, so there’s a good chance you’ve upgraded to a newer model since then. However, it is only natural that today’s old smartphones are used. If your app is on the list, unfortunately WhatsApp will not be available from December 31st.
Overall, however, the effects of this move should be limited, because very few users will still be using these older models. As a rule, devices are now more than 5 years old and no longer receive support from Android or manufacturers. So it doesn’t hurt to look for a new smartphone – and not just because of WhatsApp.
