“Leave my children alone”
The former US president commented – at two in the morning and in a familiar manner – on his favorite social media platform about the planned questioning of his eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, in court.

Former US President Donald Trump has done it again In a fraud trial in New York He assaulted the judge in charge against him. “Leave my children alone, Engoron,” Trump wrote to Judge Arthur Engoron early Wednesday morning on his online platform Truth Social. The 77-year-old Republican was referring to the court questioning of his eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, scheduled for this week.
Trump described Engoron on Truth Social as a politically motivated judge who “does the dirty work for the Democratic Party.” Engoron is “crazy, crazy and downright dangerous” – a “disgrace” to his profession.
In the civil lawsuit, the former president and his two eldest sons were accused of inflating the assets of the family real estate empire over the years in order to obtain better terms for loans and insurance. Don Jr., 45, and Eric, 39, are executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization, which owns several properties, hotels and golf courses. They were scheduled to be interviewed on Wednesday and Thursday.
Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, could also be questioned at trial. However, she is no longer a defendant in the proceedings.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James filed suit against Trump and his children in September 2022. She achieved an important legal success before the trial began at the beginning of October: Judge Engoron ruled that Trump overstated his estate assets and thus committed “fraud.”
The civil process is therefore particularly concerned with the question of how high the penalty should be. Prosecutor James demanded, among other things, a fine of $250 million (236 million euros). She also wants Trump and his two eldest sons not to be allowed to run companies in New York. The former president is not threatened with imprisonment in this case.
The authorities in the US state of Georgia published a police photo of the former US president in August of this year in connection with the accusation of attempting to rig the elections against Donald Trump.

Trump, who wants to run again for the presidential elections in a year, rejected all the accusations and described them as politically motivated. In this context, the right-wing populist repeatedly attacked Attorney General James and Judge Engoron. Engoron fined Trump twice for attacking a court employee.
In addition to the civil case, the former president was charged in four criminal cases. Both charges relate to the right-wing populist’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and thus remain in power.
