Telegram: VisionOS app with immersive video player and augmented reality stickers announced

The popular messaging app Telegram (App store link) is available for free on various platforms including iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows. Apple Vision Pro users will soon be able to access Telegram using the new VisionOS app. This is seen in a teaser shared yesterday, Tuesday.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov shared one on his personal Telegram channel Teaser video, which shows what the app will look like on Apple’s Vision Pro. Using the images, Telegram has ensured that the app follows all VisionOS design guidelines. The app is completely transparent, so users feel depth when using Telegram on Vision Pro.

Instead of the traditional tab bar, Telegram for VisionOS has a sidebar that provides quick access to contacts, calls, chats, and settings. Presumably, you’ll be able to use the same functionality as in Telegram for iOS, including sending media, voice messages, and even newly introduced Stories.

Type messages using Siri Dictation or your virtual keyboard

The teaser also features an immersive video player and animated AR stickers that fill the entire display and push the boundaries of the app window. Messages can be sent either via Siri dictation or using the system’s virtual keyboard.

There are no further details about the app at this point, but with Apple’s Vision Pro headset expected to launch in the US in early 2024, Telegram still has some time to finalize the VisionOS app before it launches next year. Developers can download the VisionOS SDK to develop Vision Pro applications.
