Weston Historical Society seeks 60’s-era Items

The Weston Historical Society is asking for the public’s help gathering material for an upcoming exhibit that tells the story of the iconic decade from 1960 to 1969, including what life was like in Weston in the 1960s. The museum is seeking 60’s era souvenirs, photographs, unique clothing, concert memorabilia, posters, record jackets, advertisements, old newspapers, as well as Vietnam uniforms, local sports team uniforms and other artifacts. Weston Historical Society gets $100,000 grant to restore Coley Barn

The Coley Homestead Barn in Weston will be restored, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Daniel E. Offutt III Charitable Trust.

The Weston Historical Society has received a $100,000 grant from the Daniel E. Offutt III Charitable Trust to repair and restore the 1883 Coley Homestead Barn on its property at 104 Weston Road. The barn houses the society’s extensive collection of farm tools and equipment. The restoration project includes structural improvements to the barn, which will allow the society to better use the barn for public education, exhibits and displays. Santa is coming to Weston for a Victorian Farmhouse Christmas

Enjoy an old-fashioned Victorian Farmhouse Christmas when Santa Claus visits the Coley House at the Weston Historical Society on Sunday, Dec. 17. Santa and his helper will be at the historical society’s 1841 farmhouse at 104 Weston Road from 2 to 4 p.m. The Coley House has been specially decorated by the Weston Garden Club to reflect Christmases of the past. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures of children with Santa and his helper. Cookies and cocoa will be served. Photos with Santa are free. Donations to the historical society are welcomed. Pam Kersey elected Weston Historical Society president

The Weston Historical Society has announced that its board of trustees has elected Pam Kersey the organization’s new president. Kersey, who is active in many Weston boards and organizations, succeeds Dallas Kersey, her husband, who stepped down after his six-year term earlier this year. “We want to thank Dallas for his years of service. During his tenure the Weston Historical Society has grown significantly, including the mounting of several high-profile exhibits and introduction of several community events, such as the Music at the Barn concert series,” said the trustees.
