Only 130 kilometers separate the Orion capsule of Artemis 1 from the Earth’s satellite. Will American astronauts land on the moon again next year?

Washington.

About a week after launch, the Orion capsule of NASA’s Artemis 1 lunar mission approached its target for the first time. The US space agency “NASA” said that the “Orion” capsule, on its way to orbit around the moon, flew near the moon at a distance of about 130 kilometers on Monday. The unmanned capsule is said to have been on the road for about three weeks before returning to Earth.

Last week, the Artemis 1 mission began its first test launch after months of delays. The Orion capsule was launched by a Space Launch System rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida, USA.

The job hasn’t been good so far: after delays and an explosion in development and construction costs, the start of testing had to be delayed several times. With the “Artemis” program, named after the Greek goddess of the moon, American astronauts are supposed to land on the moon again in the coming years, for the first time a woman and a non-white person.
