Twitter hands documents over to a special advisor
The SMS service resisted publishing information about Donald Trump – and was fined.

In the United States, Special Counsel Jack Smith received documents from Twitter related to the investigation of former President Donald Trump. This came from a court document released on Wednesday. Accordingly, the court granted Smith’s request in January. However, the documents were under lock and key.
It now says that the short-messaging service Twitter — recently dubbed X — only submitted the complete documents several days after the deadline expired. As a result, the company was fined $350,000 (about 307,000 Swiss francs).
Twitter tried legal means
According to the court document, Smith requested data and information on Trump’s former Twitter account. It also states that the court found “reasonable cause to search the Twitter account for evidence of criminal activity.” Twitter initially delayed providing the requested material and took legal action.
The Special Counsel is investigating Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and the post-secret post-presidential document case. Trump has now been charged in both cases. Now released court documents do not reveal what information Smith received from Twitter. Trump lost the election to incumbent President Joe Biden. Next year he wants to return to the Republican White House.
