Aspiring Eagle Scout James Rainone will be collecting unwanted bicycles this Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, from 10 to 4 at the Onion Barn in Weston Center.

He will be there again the following weekend, Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, from 10 to 4 as well.

For his Eagle Scout service project, James has chosen to collect donated bicycles and repair them for use in local communities, where they will provide transportation for people who do not have a car and as recreational bikes for kids whose families can’t afford to buy them.

Once the bikes are collected, James will have help repairing and distributing the bikes from Northeast Community Cycles, a community-based organization made up of volunteers from the Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club.

Some of the organizations that will benefit from the project are the Chester Addison Community Center of Stamford and the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.
