Weston transfer station accepting tree debris

The Weston transfer station on Godfrey Road West is accepting tree debris, free of charge, until Monday, Nov. 12. It is open today for its normal hours, until 2:45PM. As a special service to residents, it will also open tomorrow from 8AM-2:45.

Voting will take place as scheduled on Tuesday at Weston Middle School.  Polls are open 6AM-8PM

According to a CodeRed Alert issued this morning,  35 CL&P crews are working in town today, along with the National and Air Guard and town DPW crews, clearing roads and utility lines. “We hope to make significant progress,” First Selectman Gayle Weinstein said.

Ms. Weinstein said CL&P still has estimated the town should be restored to nearly full power by midnight Tuesday. Call CL&P customer service (800-286-2000) to get a personal restoration estimate. Those with an acute medical condition or if CL&P is saying you have power but you don’t, are asked to Ms. Weinstein at 222-2656 and she will put you in touch with a dedicated CL&P representative.

The comfort station is open at Weston High School Saturday and Sunday,  to 4PM.  Children are not allowed in the high school without their parents. Please supervise your children at all times. Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase. There are shower facilities, Internet access, and charging stations available, as well as potable water.

Town Hall is open today until 8PM for internet access and phone charging.

Weston Library will be open today from 10AM-9PM. Today is International Games Day.  There will be board games and puzzles until 4PM, Playstation’s Just Dance 4 on the big screen in the Community Room from 10-2, and Family Bingo from 3-5.

All information, including menus and movie schedule, will be posted on the town website, www.westonct.gov , in Weston Center, Weston High School, the library and at Weston Town Hall.
