On Tuesday, April 9, at noon, yoga and relaxation are on the agenda at the Weston Public Library.
Joy LeVine Abrams will teach a Lunch & Learn program called Intro to Mindfulness. Mindfulness offers support for challenges with anxiety, depression, or simply wishing to live a fuller life.
“Meditation enables us to recognize repetitive thought patterns, gain perspective and act on it, a process that allows us to take control of our own lives,” Ms. Abrams said.
Bring a towel or yoga mat and wear loose-fitting clothing. The event is free, sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library.
Joy LeVine Abrams has been teaching yoga since 1995. Beginning with a master’s degree in biology/nutrition, she was introduced to the mind/body connection. After working as a nutritionist for a number of years, she became a hospice volunteer, which led to a nine-year role as director of volunteers for hospice.
After inviting a yoga teacher to introduce the practice to her volunteers, she became a practitioner herself.
Ms. Abrams teaches yoga in Fairfield and has given her workshops throughout Fairfield Country.
