The public is invited to the opening reception of the exhibition People, Places, Patterns, and Poems, a photographic journey created by Martin Strasmore. The reception is set for this Saturday, March 16, at the Weston Public Library Community Room from 3 to 4:30.
The exhibition, featuring photos and original poems by Mr. Strasmore, will be on display until April 6.
Mr. Strasmore has lived in Weston since 1999. His profession is organizational consulting and executive coaching.
He has been a volunteer on several town committees, and he and his wife, Kassandra, founded the Select Committee on Sustainability.
“Since I was a teenager in England, I have been taking photographs, and about 30 years ago I starting keeping journals and writing poetry,” Mr. Strasmore said.
The photographs start in 1983 in India, where Mr. Strasmore lived for two years studying yoga.
The photos on exhibit are a small part of an extensive collection that recorded the Strasmore family’s adventures, including recent long- distance walks and hikes — up Kilimanjaro, across England and into the back country of southern Iceland.
“The portraits here all have stories, and all start with making a human connection with someone, often across language barriers,” Mr. Strasmore said.
