The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Weston for tomorrow, Saturday, July 7. Temperatures are expected to reach 95, but the heat index value (combination of temperature and humidity) will make it feel like 101.
The Westport Weston Family Y announced it is opening its pools free of charge to the public as a cooling station on Saturday.
The Y’s Stauffer Shallows Pool will have open swim from 12:15 to 4:30 p.m.; the Stauffer Pool (with its one-meter diving board) will have open swim from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.; and the shallow, warm-water Brophy Pool will be open from 2:15 until 5:30 pm closing.
During heat advisories, the National Weather Service urges the public to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening; know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke; and drink plenty of water.
