Members of the Weston High School girls swim and dive team were honored with an Impact Maker Award for their efforts to raise $5,777 for the Connecticut affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Team members participated in various activities throughout the year, including a Swim for the Cure event, selling pink-themed cupcakes, sending solicitation letters, and recycling cans and bottles. The team has raised more than $50,000 since 2005.
Accepting the award at a recent Weston school board meeting are, from left, coach Tom Grace, team co-captains Lucy Watson and Hannah Schroeder, Dr. David Gruen, member of the Komen CT board of directors, and Denise Harvey, school board representative.
Unable to attend were the team’s two other co-captains, Jill Kleban and Alessandra Edgar.
