Old meets new when Wilton Library’s Beyond Words benefit offers a high-tech silent auction of goods and services on Friday, March 30, beginning at 7 p.m.
With individual iPod Touches running the bidPal automated silent auction system, attendees may bid on a constellation of items from Champagne tastes to Champagne bottles, home improvements to personal improvements, tea and rock climbing parties for kids to divine dinner parties for adults and more during on of the library’s major social events of the year.
“At the heart of it all, we are looking forward to welcoming our guests and loyal library supporters to a lovely evening of fine food by chef Tim LaBant, owner of The Schoolhouse at Cannondale, along with terrific jazz and percussion by Arthur Lipner and Brasilian Vibes,” said co-chair Susan DiLoreto, who has put the event together with fellow co-chairs Robin Roscillo, Jennifer Allbee and Michele Klink.
Those looking for an advance look at what will be up for bid may check out the auction catalog at wiltonlibrary.org/beyondwords and clicking on “Auction Catalog.” Selections include a Glass House VIP Tour, a Pizza Truck Party for 50, a Night at the Opera, a 1990 Château Pétrus, a behind-the-scenes tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with art historian Joan Macy Kaskell, en plein air lessons from artist Lenny Moskowitz, a Wilton Firehouse tour for kids, an Art on Fire pottery party for kids, book group discussions with authors Jane Green (in person) and Julie Otsuka (on Skype), and a private meeting with Wilton Reads! 2012 author Ann Patchett, which includes signed first editions of all her books.
