Weston firefighters battled a raging structure fire which destroyed a garage at 23 Catbrier Road, shortly before midnight on Saturday, Sept. 5.
No injuries were reported and everyone was able to get out of the house safely, according to Weston Police Chief John Troxell.
A call was received at 11:48 p.m. on Saturday night about a structure fire at the residence, according to Mark Blake, public relations officer for the Weston Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD).
Upon arrival, first responding units found a garage and breezeway fully involved with fire, he said.
“We set up an aggressive attack utilizing three large 2 1/2 lines and were able to knock the fire down and have it under control by 12:38 a.m. [Sunday]. We recalled the alarm at 1:28 a.m. and remained on scene to provide salvage and overhaul,” he said.
The fire is currently under investigation to determine its cause.
According to the Weston assessor’s records, Matthew S. Hansen is the owner of record of the home at 23 Catbrier Road.
Blake said 21 members of the WVFD responded to the fire along with members of the Weston Police Department and Weston EMS.
A total of five Weston fire apparatus and three apparatus from the Georgetown Fire Department, Westport Fire Department, and Wilton Fire Department also responded via mutual aid.
