The Aspetuck Land Trust offers free expert-led educational hikes that are open to everyone — but space is limited, so sign-up is required.
To reserve a spot, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upcoming weekend hikes include:
Saturday, Sept. 22: Hawk Walk, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Trout Brook Valley Orchard, Easton.
Sunday, Sept 23: Wild Mushroom Hike, 9:30-noon, Trout Brook Valley Preserve, Weston. Meet at the Bradley Road entrance.
Learn about the wonderful world of fungi and explore Trout Brook Valley for these “gems of nature” with Dianna Smith. Ms. Smith has been president of the Connecticut Westchester Mycological Association for five years and teaches mycology, the study of fungi.
Her photos of fungi have appeared in several field guides and in the Audubon mushroom application for smart devices.
Hikers are welcome to bring cameras and magnifying lenses.
