Walter Oscar Ringstrom, 85

Walter Oscar Ringstrom, 85, of Stuart, FL, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Salerno Bay Manor in Stuart.

He was born in Flushing, New York, and moved to the Treasure Coast in 1987, from Weston, CT, moving to Stuart in 2009 from Tequesta.

Walter worked as an Industrial Engineer with companies such as Winchester Arms, Dictaphone, Chase Manhattan Bank and Sikorsky Aircraft. After retirement he worked for many years as a Security Officer at Seawatch on Jupiter Island.

He was a Petty Officer in the Navy in WW-2 and the Korean War. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal; Asiatic Pacific Medal; Victory Korean Service Medal; Navy Occupation Service Medal-Europe.

Walter graduated from Newtown High School and New York Community College.

He loved Horticulture and was a Martin County Master Gardner. Walter was also a lifetime Freemason.

Survivors include his beloved wife RoseMarie, one son Eric Ringstrom and three daughters, Kristin Griner, Carol Farrell and Linda Rutledge and their families including six grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to The Children’s Dyslexia Center, Inc. 33 Marret Road, Lexington, Ma. 02420 (formerly The 32 Degree Masonic Learning Centers for Children, Inc.)

SERVICES: Burial will be at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT followed with a “Celebration of Life” reception.
