Little League: Weston teams have good start

FI-baseballWeston’s 10- and 11-year-old and nine- and 10-year-old baseball teams opened pool play in the District 1 tournament games with a bang last Thursday, June 27, at Bisceglie Field.

The 10- and 11-year-old team romped to a 10-2 victory over Darien American. Across the park, the nine- and 10-year-old team fought back from a two-run deficit early, then again in extra innings as it won a  12-11 victory in 10 innings as the game was played into the dark skies.

Coach Seve Esposito rolled his eyes as he said “the game was never in doubt.” He went on to say people are calling this game “epic” and worthy of “ESPN Classics.”

The Weston 10- and 11-year-olds are back in action on Thursday against Ridgefield National in Stamford and the nine- and 10-year-olds visit Wilton on Friday.
