Chris Coogan and the Good New Gospel Choir will perform a benefit concert for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission on Saturday, June 15, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul Westport.
The Good News Gospel Choir is a 40-voice, multi-dimensional singing group with members representing all of Fairfield County. The choir, founded by Chris Coogan of Weston, performs at venues throughout the state.
Mr. Coogan is an entertainer, composer, teacher, choir director and producer who is rooted in jazz and gospel traditions.
He performs original and traditional music as a pianist and singer, as the leader of a jazz group, and as director of the Good News Gospel Choir.
He also teaches jazz piano and leads gospel workshops throughout the country to help reinvigorate church and community choirs.
“We’re pleased Chris Coogan and his choir have selected the mission as the beneficiary of their season-ending concert, and we invite mission friends and partners and anyone in the community who loves gospel music to join us for this great event,” said the Rev. Terry Wilcox, Bridgeport Rescue Mission executive director. “As they enjoy the choir’s inspirational music, attendees will know they also are helping their homeless and less fortunate neighbors through the mission’s programs and services.”
Admission is $20 per adult, $15 for seniors or students, and $40 for families. Free to children under 12.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling Janine Scotti at 203-613-5408.
St. Paul Westport is at 41 Easton Road in Westport.
