Weston transfer station accepting tree debris for free

Still cleaning up the yard after Sandy? The town will be accepting tree debris at the Weston Transfer Station, Godfrey Road West, free of charge. Debris drop off will be accepted until Wednesday, Nov. 14. The transfer station will accept only brush and downed trees, no leaves or construction debris.

Those taking advantage of the free drop-off should have proof of residency when they arrive. Contractors must have a signed note from a resident in order to not be charged.

The station is open its regular hours, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-2:45 on Saturday.

The transfer station is closed on Sundays and will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, for Veterans Day.

The state highway department is picking up debris from blocked roads on state highways that run through town, and the town has contracted to have other such trees removed from affected roadsides. Residents are asked NOT to move debris from their yards to roadsides; it will not be picked up by either the state or town.
