Canadian Tourtier pieces

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the minced meat until golden brown. Add finely chopped onion and saute. Salt and pepper.

  2. Add wheat flour and pepper powder and stir. Allow to thicken briefly, then deglaze with broth and simmer for 10 minutes until creamy. Then season again and cool.

  3. Preheat the oven to 210 degrees and lower heat. Cut circles of twelve centimeters in diameter from the puff pastry until the dough is used up. Beat the eggs with three tablespoons of water. Fill each circle of dough with two tablespoons of minced meat, then brush the dough with an egg.

  4. Fold the dough over the filling and press the two edges of the dough together. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the slices on it. Bake the tourtière pieces in the oven for 20 minutes until golden brown.
