When the Covid-19 pandemic brought the United States to a standstill in the spring of 2020, Shan Shan Fu had plenty of free time — and an idea. “All of my friends were looking for face masks, but they couldn’t find any good quality ones,” she told Business Insider.

At the time, Fu was living in San Francisco, California, and was working for an IT consulting firm. But she’s been toying with the idea of a part-time job for some time. She’s always been passionate about passive income and e-commerce, so I decided, “This is when I’m finally going to launch my product—and it’s going to be a face mask.”

The e-commerce company, Millennials In Motion, launched in April 2020 and started making money right away. Her timing was perfect, she explains: “Face masks were easy to sell out in April 2020. I was so lucky to be there so early. It usually takes months, if not years, to get to the Amazon homepage; but the shortage of face masks has been so great that That within two weeks of launch I was on the first page of the search terms I was targeting.”

Only six months after selling the masks, she was earning so much from her own business that she was able to quit her day job. Today, at the age of 34, Fu is a full-time entrepreneur based in Miami, Florida.

In addition to running Millennials In Motion, she works as a consultant for an Amazon advertising agency called Trivium and a startup law firm called OnlineVisas, which helped her get her O-1 visa. (This is a type of visa for people of exceptional ability.)

Fu was born in China and her parents immigrated to the United States when she was six years old. She is currently seeking a Green Card, which grants her permanent residence in the United States, the freedom to reside anywhere in the United States, to be self-employed, and to work for any employer.

Build an e-commerce company with a starting capital of $2000

Use YouTube to learn about the operations of an e-commerce company. I’ve watched “I Earned $20K/Month Selling on Amazon” videos that walk you through the step-by-step process and discover that you can, too. “Some of them are very broad, but if you look at them enough – I’ve seen hundreds so far – you will eventually get the gist.”
