Ruthless Brexit law: Tuchel collects next package after Chelsea exit

Britain’s exit from the European Union is ruthless

At first the job is over, and now he also has to leave his adopted country: Thomas Tuchel also lost his residence permit for Great Britain after his work as a coach at Chelsea ended. Post-Brexit labor law is to blame.

After his dismissal from Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel appears to be threatened with more problems: the football coach could be expelled from England. Telegraph reports.

Due to Tuchel’s dismissal in early September, the day after the 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, he may now lose his residence permit in Great Britain. Because, despite being expelled from the London club, he still lives in the British capital. Tuchel Tuchel’s post on the island only after Brexit, that is, Great Britain’s exit from the European Union, has already taken effect. Due to the new post-Brexit labor law, non-EU citizens can stay in the UK for a maximum of 90 days after being laid off.

Employers must submit a special application to their non-EU employees to grant them permanent access to the country. This special permit also expires after the end of the work.

The problem is known in the Tuchel camp. A representative of the coach, whose contract with Chelsea is dated until 2024, was quoted by “The Telegraph”, “We will abide by the rules of the UK and adapt all future plans accordingly. No final decisions have been made yet.”

Tuchel may have to move soon anyway due to a new job. There are already hot rumors about his future coach. Due to Bayern Munich’s poor start to the season, the former coach is being traded in the domestic league as a possible successor to Julian Nagelsmann. The upcoming matches against Bayer Leverkusen and BVB are said to be “games of fate” for Nagelsmann.

So perhaps Tuchel will soon be able to pitch his tents in Germany again. By the way, Chelsea does not have such problems with his successor: British Graham Potter.
