Liz Truss puts it on the steering wheel

Liz Truss puts it on the steering wheel

Charles III is a committed climate protector, but he may no longer be allowed to live in public. It’s his duty – however a huge disappointment.

Now it comes to Charles III. on him. He is the new king of the United Kingdom and needs to prove himself as such. But once he takes office, one thing is clear: the 73-year-old will be a political muzzle from now on.

Charles was invited to Egypt for the World Climate Summit in November. As a climate advocate, he would have liked to go there to speak there. But his new position absorbed him: Prime Minister Liz Truss prevented him from attending.

Truss doesn’t just muzzle the king

Of course it is true that the king does not interfere in political processes. This is the bargain of a constitutional monarchy – and at the same time its advantage: it embodies a constant regardless of political circumstances. Neutrality is guaranteed to all, regardless of political camps.

However, one can be disappointed. Especially if you are concerned about climate change and are committed to protecting the environment. Because the prime minister has not only suppressed the king – but also the man who has been dedicated to protecting the environment for years and has moved many things. This means that the hopes of a “green king” who can bring about changes are fading.
