Online Ambassador: Visa-free travel to the USA from the end of 2025

Bucharest / Washington (ADZ) – Romania’s Ambassador to the United States, Andrej Moraru, expects Romanian citizens to be able to travel to the United States without a visa within two years. Speaking to Digi24 news channel, the ambassador revealed that “Romania will definitely be included in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP) in 2025,” which allows some citizens to stay in the United States for up to 90 days without prior application for a visa. According to Moraru, the relevant announcement from the US authorities will be made at the beginning of 2025, possibly in February, while actual visa-free travel of Romanian citizens to the US will then be possible “from December 1, 2025”.

However, visa-free travel to the USA is not completely free of requirements, as not all stay purposes are permitted under the Visa Waiver Program: People using the Visa Waiver Program are only allowed to travel for tourist purposes (Tourist Visa Waiver) or business purposes.
