When Ellen’s latest appearance on the series flashed across television screens in the US, several “Grey’s Anatomy” actors shared their memories of their time together on set on Instagram.

“Eileen, you took the words of talented writers and breathed life into a character who has become part of our culture’s lexicon. Thank you,” her star wrote. James Pickens Jr. (68, “Dr. Richard Webber”) under a series of photos of their years of work together.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes (53) was also sad: “I wouldn’t trade her or trade her for anything in the world.”

Ellen Pompeo announced her end to the series on Instagram in November last year, thanking her followers for their long-standing support and affirming, “I will definitely come back for visits.”

This promise should give hope to fans of this hit series. It is not revealed how often Meredith will visit her colleagues.
