7 settings to change after downloading

7 settings to change after downloading

With iOS 16, Apple has brought many new functions to the iPhone. However, not all of them make sense. So we present seven settings that must be changed immediately after downloading.

Search button – how to deactivate it

After installing iOS 16, a new search button on the home screen catches your eye. On all iPhone models (from iPhone X and later), you’ll now find the new search function between the last row of apps and the dock. With a single click of the button, you can start the search on your iPhone. However, it is questionable why this is useful. Because: If you slide your finger down from the middle of the screen, the search function will also open.

Do you find the double search function on the home screen unnecessary? Fortunately, you can disable this feature. To do this, go to Settings. Under Home Screen, you can then activate the slider next to Show on Home Screen.

No more side button ending calls

Who does not know the problem? When making a call, you accidentally press the side button of your iPhone and the call is automatically ended. This is annoying, but avoidable since iOS 16. Open Settings and tap on Accessibility. Under “Physical and Engine”, select “Write”. Next to “Prevent calls from ending with blocking,” turn on the toggle button.

Back at the end – Battery Percentage Indicator

New updates don’t always offer new features. For example, the common battery display ratio on iPhone models without Touch ID has disappeared since 2017. With iOS 16, Apple is bringing the feature back. However, you have to activate it in the settings. Go to Settings and under “Battery” enable the slider next to “Battery charge%”.

Important: Currently (as of 10/6/22) the battery percentage indicator is not displayed on iPhone XR, 11, 12 mini and 13 mini models. It is very likely that Apple will fix the functionality with iOS 16.1.

Set keyboard touch feedback

Since iOS 16, it has been possible to set touch keyboard feedback on iPhone. This is especially useful for those who find regular keystroke tones annoying when typing. In the settings under “Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback” You need to enable the slider next to “Haptics”.

Retrieve emails – buy more time

Thanks to iOS 16, it is now possible to retrieve sent emails. This is especially useful if you made a mistake in the subject line or the email was sent to the wrong sender. By default, after sending the email, you have ten seconds to retrieve it.

In the settings, you can extend the time to 30 seconds. Go to E.Mail settings. In the “Send” section at the bottom, click “Cancel Delayed Send”. For example, select 30 seconds.

Turn off images in the For You widget

Since iOS 16, the iPhone has been searching for photos from your photo archive to display in the “For you” widget on the home screen, for example. If you do not want this, you can deactivate the function. In Settings under Photos, you can activate or deactivate the slider next to Show recommended content under Comments and Recommended photos.

View notifications as a list

Since iOS 16, notifications are displayed on the lock screen at the bottom of the screen. This cannot be changed, but you can choose from three different views. This works in E.Settings under “Notifications”. By default, the stack width is set. The notifications are stacked on top of each other. choose du “number”, you only see the number of notifications. One click on the number you see the message. If you want to display as in iOS 15, you have to select List.
