Bielefeld. The ex-Armine is drawn to America, the defender shaking with injuries and the best game with Bielefeld’s participation in the youth field: one or the other happened around Armenia – we summarize the news.
Cordova left Germany
Bundesliga club FC Augsburg have signed Sergio Cordova to North American Major League Soccer (MLS). The 25-year-old attacker, who joined FCA in 2017, has joined the Vancouver Whitecaps, effective immediately, the club announced on Monday. Both sides have agreed not to disclose the amount of the transfer fee, which according to media reports should be around two million euros.
Cordova was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld by Fuggerstad for the 2020/2021 season. The attacker completed 24 competitive appearances in the DSC jersey and scored two goals and set up one. The Venezuelan has not played a single game for Augsburg this season. Along with Alessandro Schöpf, Cordova will meet another player from the Bielefeld past (season 2021/2022) at his new club from Canada.
Brunner and Boerner were injured
Former Armin Cedric Brunner was sufficiently shaken up by serious clashes during his time at Bielefeld. Now caught in the Swiss Schalke 04 kit: Brunner broke his nose as the Bundesliga bottom drew 0-0 at Union Berlin. Brunner will therefore be missing from Saturday’s relegation thriller against VfB Stuttgart.
Meanwhile, Hannover 96 will have to plan without their captain Julian Barner in the upcoming second division game. The 32-year-old central defender will miss next Sunday’s home game against Magdeburg with a muscle injury in his left hamstring.
In terms of the game, Barner has had a tough time of late, with a day completely wasted in a 3:4 loss against SC Paderborn a week ago. “I don’t understand 2:2, how you can achieve such a goal. They are my two most experienced players”, coach Stefan Leidl fumed at Barner and goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler after the game. Result: The former Armin (2014-2019) was on the bench in the 1-1 draw in Regensburg last matchday and was not used.
Kleindienst follows in Wichniarek’s footsteps
Tim Kleindienst of Armenia Bielefeld’s next opponent 1. FC Heidenheim performed a rare feat against 1. FC Nürnberg in the last match. The 27-year-old scored a four-pack in a 5-0 win against “Club”. Prior to Kleindienst, DSC strikers Artur Wichniarek scored in a 5–2 win over Hannover 96 on April 22, 2001, and Marco Küntzel in a 5–0 win over VfL Osnabrück on December 12, 2003.
A great game for Armenia’s U17
Armenia in fight for top of table: Dream start in men’s 2nd Bundesliga becomes reality in U17s: After a fantastic season, DSC is fighting for qualification for the final round of the German championship. With three games to go, the best game against table leaders Schalke 04 increases, with the best attack (DSC) meeting the best defense (S04). A game worthy of a qualified spectator act that does not clash with Sunday’s DSC home game against Heidenheim: Kick-off is at 1pm on Saturday, the venue is the Böllhoffstadion in Brakweide.
