Watch a rare annular solar eclipse
This phenomenon was observed in the United States of America and Central and South America. The outer edge of the Sun remains visible.

Millions of people in North, South and Central America watched a rare fiery solar eclipse wreath on Saturday. They were equipped with special goggles and huddled together to view the natural spectacle together.
During a fiery solar eclipse, also known as an annular solar eclipse, the Moon moves in front of the Sun, but the outer edge of our parent star remains visible. A total solar eclipse has been announced in parts of North America in April 2024.
Onlookers also noticed this phenomenon in the skies over Guatemala City.

According to the US space agency NASA, the solar eclipse was most visible in parts of the US states of Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, as well as in parts of Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Colombia and Brazil.

…until only a narrow ring can be seen.

The visibility of the annular solar eclipse moved in a narrow strip from the northwest to the southeast across the American continent. The maximum annular phase duration of five minutes and 17 seconds was reached over Panama.
Partial stages of darkness can be seen over large areas of the United States of America, although rain clouds prevented the sky from being seen on parts of the East Coast of the United States, for example. This phenomenon was not observed throughout Europe.
