Funerals bring together feuding families, including royals: Prince Harry travels from the United States to say goodbye to his grandfather, Prince Philip. His pregnant wife, Meghan, who has made serious allegations against the palace, is staying at home.

Prince Harry, who emigrated to the United States, has arrived in Great Britain, according to unconfirmed media reports. He is scheduled to attend a memorial service for his late grandfather, Prince Philip, in Windsor on Saturday. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II died on Friday at the age of 99. Prince Harry reportedly arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday afternoon. His wife, Duchess Meghan, did not travel with him.

A palace spokesman said the 39-year-old pregnant woman had been advised by her doctor not to make the trip. Harry and Meghan stepped back from the royal family’s inner circle just over a year ago, moving the center of their lives to California with their one-year-old son, Archie. They are expecting a girl in the summer.

end of ice age

It is unclear whether the royals will take the opportunity to reconcile, as the British media have speculated. Prince Harry has been particularly at odds with his brother Prince William and his father Prince Charles. At the heart of the dispute are allegations by Harry and Meghan of disinterest in the couple and even racist comments within the family – Meghan has partly African-American roots. What was particularly striking was the fact that the two revealed all this to the public during a bombshell interview with American talk show legend Oprah Winfrey. Since then, there has been an ice age.

Prince Philip’s funeral service will take place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. It will be broadcast live on television – in Germany by RTL. The service is due to begin at 4pm with a minute’s silence across the country. Due to coronavirus rules, only 30 mourners will be allowed to attend. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has cancelled his attendance to make room for family members.

There is to be no public procession. Instead, Philip’s coffin will be carried to the church in a specially modified Land Rover within the castle walls, followed by a small group of mourners consisting of Prince Charles and other family members.
