  • As the personal physician of the US President said, Joe Biden had a skin lesion on his chest that was removed in February.

  • The now 80-year-old is healthy and fully functional.

  • Biden is likely to announce his candidacy for president again soon and run for a second term in 2024.

At the hospital appointment on February 16th skin change It was removed from the 80-year-old man’s chest and the tissue was sent to a lab for examination, Biden’s personal physician, Kevin O’Connor, said in a letter released by the White House on Friday. “As expected,” the skin change turned out to be something called basal cell carcinoma, the most common form from skin cancer.

“All of the cancerous tissues were successfully removed,” O’Connor said. The skin area was treated at the appointment at Walter Reed Army Hospital in suburban Washington in February. “No further treatment is necessary.” O’Connor said the wound had healed well. The doctor emphasized that, unlike other types of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma usually does not spread and does not form metastases.

Good health and full capacity

O’Connor had previously mentioned the biopsy in his February 16 presidential health testimony. Now the result of skin histology examination has been published.

In his testimony, O’Connor essentially certified that the President was in good health and fully fit for office. “President Biden remains an 80-something healthy, active, and able to successfully perform the duties of the presidency.” However, the five-page letter also listed some health issues, including frequent hawking, coughing from gastroesophageal reflux, and a stiff gait from wear and tear on the spine.

Biden is likely to announce his candidacy for president again soon and run for a second term in 2024. The age of the American Democrat is problematic: at 80, Biden is already the oldest president in history. At the end of a potential second term, he will be 86 years old.
