The Wolf Among Us: Season 2: Release has been significantly delayed

Fans of The Wolf Among Us who were already looking forward to the sequel’s release this year must be strong: unfortunately, nothing will come of it now. The release has been significantly pushed back.

The anticipation of Telltale Games’ The Wolf Among Us 2 release in the current year of 2023 was great, but now there’s a pretty harsh damper. The developer has now confirmed via Twitter that nothing will come of it. The title will certainly not be released this year and there is currently no new date.

In the somewhat general statement about the delay, the filmmakers simply indicate that “more time is needed” so that they can finally “deliver the sequel that fans deserve.” It was “the right decision for the game” and was also made to “protect the development team’s health”.

On the other side IGN Then, Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie revealed more details. Accordingly, there are several reasons for this step. Above all, one of them is to transfer the technical basis to the new Unreal Engine 5. First of all, they wanted to avoid the risk of presenting a bad and incomplete product.

However, due to the engine change, some work had to be done again, which had already been mastered on the basis of Unreal Engine 4. In the end, this time was missing to be able to publish a finished product already in the current year 2023 – and in the end it was not It’s simply an option for the development team, also because it could have had negative health effects on the staff.

Wolf Among Us 2 was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and is slated to be released in 2018 for PC, Mac, consoles and mobile devices. It was pushed back to 2019 before Telltale Games ran into serious financial difficulties at the time. After the rescue, it was confirmed that development work would resume at Game Awards 2019 – and it should have happened this year.

The title takes place six months after the first season. Season 2 is slated to consist of five episodes, but it will all be developed at once and released in a much narrower time frame than before. Release is planned for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S once ready, as early as 2024.
