Promotional materials provide details of the number of new players

It’ll be a while before Recke Link finally gets to explore the clouds over Hyrule: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won’t be released until May 12, 2023.

Unfortunately, information about the long-awaited and repeatedly delayed sequel to the popular 2017 Nintendo Switch launch title has been kept secret so far, aside from Three short trailers So Zelda fans are left dry. Now, however, a promotional brochure has appeared that not only discloses information about the number of players, but also lists the use of the online service.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Most likely no multiplayer or co-op

A player at the Dutch electronics store discovered the advertising material and posted a picture of it on Reddit. You can see a rectangular booklet showing already known screenshots of the game and revealing some usage details – the number of players, for example. Kingdom Tears should be playable on its own in handheld or tabletop mode as well as on TV.

The Breath of the Wild sequel doesn’t appear to include multiplayer or even local co-op, though some fans were hoping it would based on Link and Zelda exploring together in the game’s first trailer. As some Reddit commenters have noted, the number on the brochure is not the KO standard, after all it is on packaging Splatoon 3 For example, only “1” is given.

However, they are marked with an asterisk, which denotes addition. There’s talk of online multiplayer capability as well as local multiplayer options – assuming multiple consoles for the latter. There is no such reference in the Tears of the Kingdom handbook, so the next Zelda offshoot will likely work just as well without the multiplayer adventures.

What online integration can Tears of the Kingdom have?

In the context of this, of course, the Nintendo Switch Online feature specification makes you think that, after all, Nintendo’s online service is also used for multiplayer. The most logical outcome would be cloud saves, which not only can be used for nearly all first-party titles from the Japanese game developer, but would also fit thematically in light of Link’s impressive travels in Tears of the Kingdom.

Since the Dutch inscription above the logo means “Get more from your Nintendo Switch,” some in the comments are speculating about possible DLC. Previously Breath of the Wild It got two paid expansions with Legendary Trials and Warriors Story.
