Garrett Gerloff wechselt von Yamaha zu BMW

OFFICIAL: Jarrett Gerloff signs contract for BMW / MotoGP Superbike World Championship

The fact that Texas Garrett Gerloff will compete in the 2023 Superbike World Championship for German BMW Team Bonovo was a bad thing. The 27-year-old’s injury has now been officially confirmed.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport will get a new member from the USA next year. Texan Garrett Gerloff will start as a BMW rider working in the Superbike World Championship from 2023 and ride for the Bonovo staff.

Gerloff started his career in the USA and competed in various tournaments there. In 2016 and 2017, he became a champion in the MotoAmerica Supersport. In the next two years, he was successful in Superbikes. Gerloff has been competing for the GRT Yamaha in the World Superbike Championship since 2020 and since then has occupied five podiums. In the overall standings, he took eleventh and seventh place, and is currently also eleventh.

Australian Remy Gardner, coming from KTM and the MotoGP World Championship, will replace him at Yamaha.

“Hello and welcome to the BMW family, Garrett Gerloff,” said Mark Bongers, Director of Motorsports. “We have always followed his development in the World Superbike Championship in recent years. He has shown from the start that he is fast and talented. He has now matured as a driver. We are very excited to have Jarrett on board for the upcoming season. We are convinced that Garrett fits in well with our team and is a further boost to our project.” He will help the Bonovo staff take the next step towards the top next season.”

Team owner Jürgen Röder added: “We are thrilled to have a driver like Garrett Gerloff join the Bonovo team! We are very much looking forward to working together and are confident that we will start an excellent 2023 season with him. I hope we can provide what Garrett would like and imagine. Then we are well prepared for the new season.”

Gerloff takes over from Eugene Lafferty (36), who is moving into team management. His teammate will be Loris Paz, who will remain with the Bonovo Action BMW.
