Buckingham Palace announces the official signature
A week after Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Buckingham Palace received the official monogram of Britain’s new King Charles III. announced.
It reads CIIIR – C for Charles, III for the Roman number three and R for Rex, which is Latin for king.

The royal letter, which can be seen on government buildings, letter boxes and government documents in the UK, among other things, is CIIIR – C for Charles, the third is the Roman numeral three and R is Rex, the Latin word for king.
The first letter of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96, was EIIR – the letter R was for Regina, which is the Latin word for queen.
The Royal Post Office at Buckingham Palace will start printing the new CIIIR on its mail from Tuesday, after the period of mourning for the royal family has ended. The palace post office handles about 200,000 items each year, from invitations to events and responses to letters to affairs of state.
Not released for trading until mid-2024
The first banknotes bearing the image of the new King Charles III. The Bank of England announced on Tuesday that it will not be released into circulation in the UK until mid-2024. The picture will be presented at the end of this year.
The Bank of England announced that the king’s portrait will be printed on new £5, £10, £20 and £50 banknotes. Otherwise “no more changes will be made”. The old Queen’s banknotes will remain in circulation and will not be taken out of circulation unless damaged in order to “reduce the environmental and financial impact of the change of king” at the request of the royal family.
