Tonight at State of Play, Sony announced that this is what many fans have been waiting for for a long time Like a dragon: Ishin! It will be released in February 2023 in subtitled and technical form for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.

Like a Dragon: Ishin is a historical action-adventure thriller set in the unique Kyo of the 1860s, a fictional version of Kyoto. While other games tell parts of Japan’s past history, in Ishin you’ll experience the end of the famous samurai era. Our hero, Sakamoto Ryoma, is a true historical figure, credited in large part with the overthrow of the shogunate and undergoing a radical reform of Japan.

The title originally appeared in 2014 as Yakuza: Ishin! – Or, more precisely, like Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! – For PlayStation 4. However, this version is only available in Japanese.

Unreal Engine 4 is supposed to provide a cinematic flair

The title was developed for the first time in the history of the Like-a-Dragon series in Unreal Engine 4, and should therefore take a full step forward in terms of textures, character models, and effects. So the title should be more cinematic and impressive than it was with the original from 2014.

On your adventure, you will meet old acquaintances such as protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, but also Goro Majima. In Ishin, Kazuma plays Sakamoto Ryoma. Four wacky fighting styles await, from swordsman to archer and untamed dancer to thug.

The extent of localization is not yet known

It is not yet known whether Like a Dragon: Ishin will be fully translated in German or whether you will have to be satisfied with the English text and audio output.
