German volleyball players lost their second consecutive game at the World Championships in the Netherlands and Poland. The team of national coach Vital Heinen had to admit defeat in Lodz to the Olympic champions from the USA by 0:3 (17:25, 13:25, 24:26).

The day before, despite a strong performance, Germany also lost 3-0 to defending champions Serbia. In the final group game on Saturday (4:00pm / Sportdeutschland.tv), the German Volleyball Federation’s selection meets Canada.

Winning this duel will be especially important because the points won will be taken against teams that have also qualified for the Intermediate Round. Thanks to their victories over Bulgaria (3:1) and Kazakhstan (3:0) at the start of the World Cup, the DVV players have already achieved their goal of advancing to the next round. German volleyball players have not yet managed to win a medal at the World Championships.

“The United States is number one in the world, an all-time great team, with many medal successes in recent years,” coach Heinen excited about the opponent before the match. His players initially kept surprisingly well at the Atlas Arena in ód, before the Americans showed their class from the middle of the first group. After something obvious in Group B, the US team was faced with a much greater challenge by Germany in Group C.
