Francesco Giorgi, detained in a corruption scandal in the European Union, is allowed to leave prison subject to conditions. The Italian must continue to be held under house arrest with an electronic ankle bracelet, the Brussels prosecutor announced after a decision by the responsible council. Giorgi is the partner of the former Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kayli, who is also detained. Prosecutors said they would not appeal Thursday night’s decision.
