The royal evacuation the evening before the Queen’s funeral |
Harry and Meghan have been banned from attending an official dinner
The night before the Queen’s grand state funeral, they were left out: Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, are said to have not been allowed to attend a state dinner.
The Queen’s favorite grandson not at a table with the royal family? Another royal rejection of Harry. When dinner with dignitaries is held at Buckingham Palace, he and his wife have to stay outside.
The palace also declared itself King Charles III. (73) they lead dinner as the new royal chief – with Queen Camilla (75) at his side.
In other words: Charles will also have an overview of the guest list. Since his son Harry and his wife had not been part of the “working royal family” since Megxit, there was no invitation.
A palace spokesperson has already confirmed that the event is for “members of the royal family” only. So the disgraced Prince Andrew is not wanted.
► The official event will be held for heads of state, foreign official guests and members of the royal family who arrive in London ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
As protocol dictates, Harry, Meghan and Andrew are not part of this company. Heir to the throne William (40) and his wife Princess Kate (40) of course. And royal fans are already freaking out now – hoping to catch a glimpse of Kate.
At the state dinner she is allowed to wear a tiara. There are strict rules for wearing tiaras: in general, tiaras are reserved for events beginning after 5pm UK time. And where it is appropriate for the occasion. These include inauguration ceremonies, royal dinners, and state visits.
The biggest police act in history
US President Joe Biden has already confirmed his attendance, as has King Philip VI. and Queen Letizia of Spain. Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco are also expected to travel to London together, as well as Queen Margaret and her son, Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary.
It is a great honor that Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako are also traveling from Japan. Traditionally, representatives of the world’s oldest hereditary monarchy do not attend funerals, either in Japan or abroad. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is coming from Germany.
After that, the crowd of guests will occupy about 2,000 seats at the state funeral at Westminster Abbey on Monday. The funeral ceremony is not only a historical event, it is also a great challenge for the security forces.
Nick Aldworth, the former national counter-terrorism coordinator, told The Independent: “It’s probably the largest policing and security operation the UK has ever undertaken.”
And: According to analysts, the funeral may be the most watched TV event in human history with 4.1 billion TV viewers expected!
