School board chooses Kaddis of Weston to head Hurlbutt

SCH-hurl-roundThe Weston school board announced Monday night, April 8, it has chosen Laura Kaddis of Weston to be the new principal of Hurlbutt Elementary School.

Ms. Kaddis has been the principal at Hayestown Elementary School in Danbury since 2002; before that, she was assistant principal at John Read Middle School in Redding and was the assistant director of summer enrichment programs in New Canaan.

Ms. Kaddis will replace Michael Cicchetti, who was named interim principal about two weeks after Joanna Genovese resigned Sept. 18, 2012. Ms. Genovese’ resignation followed the discovery she did not hold all of the required credentials to continue to serve in an administrative position.

“Ms. Kaddis has extensive experience as an administrator and teacher,” said Weston Superintendent Colleen Palmer. “In addition, as a Weston resident and parent, Ms. Kaddis will assume the principalship with a unique and personal perspective of our community. I am confident that Ms. Kaddis will be an outstanding asset to our administrative team and to Hurlbutt Elementary School.”

On Monday night, Mr. Brey said Ms. Kaddis’s start date and salary had not yet been determined.
