Weston Senior Center offers new programs

weston-sr-center-sign-seniorThe Weston Senior Activities Center is offering several new programs starting this month.

Painting Class with Keith Brooks: “Art with Friends.” Five classes, $25. Monday’s Jan. 14, 28, Feb. 4, 11 and 25. 1-3 p.m. at the Weston Senior Center.

A fun drawing and painting class for beginners and advanced students. A chance to make art together in a congenial environment. Bring a favorite photograph to use as your model or even a masterpiece that you would like to copy, or work on a simple set up that will be provided. Any medium is okay: graphite, charcoal, watercolor, oil or acrylic. Please bring your own supplies.

Instructor Keith Brooks, said “ Here is an opportunity for someone tired of painting at home alone to do so with others, and share experiences in an informal, supportive environment.”

Backgammon Club with Woody Bliss. Tuesdays, Jan. 15, 29 and Feb. 5, 26. 1:30 p.m. Free. At the Senior Center.

Bridge Lessons. Six-week class, Jan. 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7, 21, 28, 10:30 a.m. $30.

Bridge instructor John Farwell will teach basic bridge and get you and a group ready to play on your own. At the Senior Center.

Bingo Party, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 12:30-2 p.m. at the Senior Center. Cost is $3 and includes four bingo cards and dessert. You will have a chance to win some great prizes that have been donated. Sign up required. Volunteers needed to bake for the party.

Film Club. Doctor Zhivago is showing Wednesday, Jan. 23, 3 p.m. at the Senior Center.

Christian Orr (WHS student) is offering his time to start this new club. Once a month at 3, he will be showing classic movies, followed by a discussion group and pizza. Free. Sign-up required; space is limited to 15 people.
