Weston opens emergency operations center, trees down on Valley Forge Road

Weston PoliceFollowing a special meeting at this morning, town officials have set up the Commission Room at Weston Town Hall to function as the town’s emergency operations center during the storm.

Weston Police Chief John Troxell said six patrol officers are on the road today as well as a full complement of fire and EMS volunteers.  Once winds hit 50 miles per hour, he said for safety reasons, only life-threatening calls will be answered during that time. Calls about downed trees and power outages will be addressed after storm winds die down.

Although the storm has yet to hit Weston, winds have already taken down several trees on Valley Forge Road. Chief Troxell said those trees are being cleared and the road is still passable and open at this time.

Chief Troxell spent the night at the Weston Police Department last night where he slept on a cot. He said he plans to stay in the office day and night until the storm clears.
