Girls lacrosse: Trojans win first round

The Weston High girls lacrosse team started the state Class S tournament with a one-sided 20-9 victory over Sacred Heart on Thursday.

Weston, the third seed, was led by Lindsay Koch’s seven-goal effort on attack. She also had two assists.

Frances Holmes scored six goals and had two assists. Catie Ledwick netted five (three assists) while Stephanie Thomson (one assist) and Nicole DeCanio (three assists) each netted one. Alexa Werner had two assists.

Carolyn Figliola made seven saves in goal for Weston, which faces 11th-seeded Old Lyme on Monday at home at 5 p.m.
