UPDATE, 1:30PM: Mitch Gross of CL&P reported that power has been restored to the 20 Weston homes that had been without electricity for about two-and-a half hours. The outage was due to a plow truck that backed into a utility pole on Briar Oak Drive.

As of 1:30, the number of CL&P customers without power has dropped to 110, according to the company’s outage map.

EARLIER STORY: As of 1 p.m. on Monday, Connecticut Light and Power was reporting that 20 of Weston’s 3,822 households are without power. That is just over 0.5% of the town’s homes.

Across the state, just 125 of CL&P’s customers are without power, representing less than 1%. The most outages are in Darien, which is reporting 95.

Outages should be reported to CL&P by calling 800-286-2000.

Today’s snow storm is expected to taper off by later this evening, but more snow is predicted Tuesday into Wednesday.

CL&P offers the following suggestions to help you prepare and remain safe before, during and after a storm:

  • Stay away from downed power lines
  • Check medications that require refrigeration
  • Set your refrigerator and freezer to their coldest settings
  • Get extra ice
  • Set aside water
  • Be prepared to cook outside
  • Stock up on batteries and easy-to-prepare food
  • Prepare alternative sources of heat or find an emergency shelter
  • Unplug sensitive equipment
  • Fill your car’s gas tank
  • Plan to live without everyday tools that need electricity
  • Keep a battery-operated radio handy
  • Prepare a “lights out” kit
