CL&P is working on power restoration in Weston

7 p.m. — CL&P reports power has been restored in all but five homes in Weston.

2:30 p.m. — CL&P is reporting that 400 Weston customers are still without power. Statewide, CL&P is reporting 883 power outages. Weston’s outage is nearly half of the statewide total.

12:15 p.m. — As of 12:12 p.m., 570 Weston residents, 14% of the town is still without power. According to CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross, the company is working on a utility pole on Kellogg Hill Road which was damaged in last night’s storm.  Although the storm was relatively short with the brunt lasting under an hour, intense winds and heavy rains wreaked havoc with trees knocking down limbs and power lines.

The storm hit Weston, Wilton, Redding, Ridgefield, and Westport especially hard. “We had crews working all night. Most customers should have their power back in the next few hours,” Mr. Gross said.

Friday, July 27: 6:30 a.m. — The Weston Communications Center has just received a report about a brush fire on Steephill Road, caused by a downed primary power line from last night’s storm. Police are warning residents to avoid Steephill Road “at all costs” this morning. The Weston Volunteer Fire Department is en route to the scene and Connecticut Light and Power Company has been notified.

At this time, all other roads in town are reported as passable.  However, according to CL&P, 624 residents — 16% of the town — are without power in the storm’s aftermath.

Thursday, July 26: 11:30 p.m. — Numerous roads are blocked in Weston following tonight’s storm which featured a number of incredible lightning strikes. Police report major problems on Kellogg Hill Road near Eleven O’Clock Road where a tree came down and took off the top of a utility pole. Connecticut Light & Power Company is on the scene, but police say they expect a portion of the road will be closed until late tomorrow morning or early afternoon. Power is out in that area of town.

Georgetown Road at Old Mill Road is closed at this time due to a downed tree. The town ‘s highway department is on the scene.

Goodhill Road at Connor’s Lane

Old Stagecoach Road

Old Farm Road at Route 57

Tobacco Road at Lord’s Highway

Oak Lane/Ledgewood Drive at Lord’s Highway East

Fanton Hill Road at Lyons Plain Road

Route 136, Old Redding Road and Codfish Lane

There are still 735 power outages in Weston. No injuries have been reported.

10:30 p.m. — Connecticut light and Power Company reports that 735 customers are without power in Weston following this evening’s storm. Heavy winds soared through town knocking down trees and power lines.
