The Connecticut State Library in Hartford

In 2011 and 2012, Woody Bliss conducted genealogy classes on behalf of the Friends of the Weston Senior Activities Center.

The Friends of the Senior Center are now sponsoring a genealogy field trip on Thursday, June 27, for class participants and for anyone new who is interested in researching family history.

The trip to Hartford will focus on three key locations for genealogical research. They are: The Connecticut Society of Genealogists for a presentation about their resources; The Connecticut State Library, where there is an extensive department on history and genealogy; and The Connecticut Historical Society, which has an extensive Genealogy Department.

On Thursday, June 27, people are encouraged to carpool by meeting at Exit 42 on the Merritt Parkway at 8:45 a.m. The caravan will leave promptly at 9, and people may expect to return to Exit 42 at about 5 to 5:30 p.m.

For more information and to sign up, contact Woody Bliss at 203-226-4859 or Nina Daniel at 203-221-0604.
