Car wash, dunk tank part of Weston Memorial Day weekend

american_football_4cdbfb101The Weston High School football team will host its annual Memorial Day Car Wash on Saturday, May 25, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 35 Norfield Road (lower parking lot) from 10 to 2. Cars will be hand-washed and dried by the players and coaches.

The wash is free, but donations are welcome and will go to support the football program.

Every wash comes with a complimentary hot dog and soda, courtesy of the Weston Gridiron Club. Donations of $10 or more will receive a discount coupon from Sports Authority.

In addition, the Gridiron Club will host a raffle for car detailing, valued at more than $400.

“This is an important fund-raiser for our program,” said coach Joseph Lato. “We appreciate all donations made in support of our team’s effort.”

This year, after the car wash, Trojan Football will also sponsor its inaugural “Dunk-A-Trojan” at the Weston Memorial Day Fair on Saturday, May 25, at the fairgrounds at Hurlbutt Elementary School from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

People may try to dunk graduating and returning players, plus “a surprise dunk-ee” during the 2 to 4 session. Successful dunkers will receive a mini Weston Trojan football.

All proceeds from the dunk tank will go directly to support Weston High School football.

Proceeds from both activities help the players earn their way to August summer training camp in Massachusetts.
