Weston High, Middle School to host Special Olympics

Special Olympics Connecticut Southwest Region has announced that Weston High School and Weston Middle School will be the new venue for the regional games on Saturday May 12. More than 650 athletes including unified partners will participate in aquatics, track and field and tennis competitions.

Regional games activities will include opening ceremonies, lunch, awards presentations and Olympic town, an area offering skills, arts and crafts and games. The public is invited to attend.

Special Olympics’ mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities; giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with other families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The region consists of 25 programs in 33 towns from Greenwich to Madison and serves 1,693 athletes and partners.

Presenting sponsors are General Electric, Oce’ Canon and Gold Sponsor Affinion Group. Anyone interested in sponsoring can contact Lisa Vane, Regional Director, at (203) 380-9990 ext. 601 or e-mail [email protected] For more information www.soct.org.
