Connecticut Alliance for Music will present pianist Gayle Martin Henry and oboist Gerard Reuter in concert on Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at the home of Joy and Howland Blackiston of Weston. The performance will be followed by a festive reception.
Gayle Martin Henry has had a distinguished career as a concert pianist, achieving international prominence as the sole American laureate of the sixth International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow.
Highlights include a 2012 performance of the Grieg Concerto with the California Philharmonic in Los Angeles. She has played several all-Beethoven concerts, both on fortepiano (1807) and modern Steinways, and has toured throughout the Americas, Europe, and mainland China.
A recipient of the prestigious Pro Musicis International Award, oboist Gerard Reuter has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout the United States, including the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, of which he was a founding member.
A graduate of the Juilliard School and the Royal College of Music in London, Mr. Reuter is on the faculties of New York University and Sarah Lawrence College.
