The 2013-14 town and school budget proposals were reviewed by the Board of Finance earlier this week.
On the table are a town operating budget of $11,690,441 (a 3.32% increase over the current year), a $46.29-million school budget (a 1.55% increase), and a combined $1,128,728 town and school capital budget (a 30.2% decrease).
The Board of Selectmen approved the town, capital, and debt service requests and recommended a $100,000 reduction to the school budget request.
The rest of this year’s budget schedule includes:
Thursday, March 21: Publish notice of public hearing on budget. (Charter requires 10 days prior to public hearing.)
Wednesday, April 3: Board of Finance holds public hearing on budget request, 8 p.m., Weston Middle School cafeteria. (Charter requires at least two weeks prior to Annual Town Budget Meeting.)
Thursday, April 4: Additional public hearing on budget request (if necessary).
Thursday, April 11: Board of Finance budget deliberation meeting, 7:30 p.m., town hall Commission Room.
Thursday, April 18: Publish and post notice of Annual Town Budget Meeting. (Charter requires at least five days prior to meeting.)
Wednesday, April 24: Annual Town Budget Meeting (ATBM), 8 p.m., Weston High School auditorium.
Thursday, May 2: Proposed referendum.
Thursday, May 9: Board of Finance meets to set the mill rate.
