The Weston High boys varsity basketball team upset second-ranked Kaynor Tech of Waterbury 62-54 in the quarterfinals of the state Class M tournament on Saturday, earning its first trip to the semifinals since 2007.
Weston, which led 14-12 after one quarter, stretched it to 33-26 at halftime and only trailed once in the second half.
Charlie DiPaquale led Weston with 28 points.
The 23rd seed, Weston will play the winner of today’s Enfield-Berlin game on Tuesday at a site and location to be determined.
